State and Local Government Cybersecurity Grant Program

On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security announced the availability of $374.9 million in grant funding for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). State and local governments face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats to their critical infrastructure and public safety. Now in its second year, the SLCGP is a first-of-its-kind cybersecurity grant program specifically for state, local, and territorial (SLT) governments across the country to help them strengthen their cyber resilience.

Established by the State and Local Cybersecurity Improvement Act, and part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the SLCGP provides $1 billion in funding over four years to support SLT governments as they develop capabilities to detect, protect against, and respond to cyber threats. This year’s funding allotment represents a significant increase from the $185 million allotted in FY22, demonstrating the Administration and Congress’s commitment to help improve the cybersecurity of communities across the nation.

SLCGP is jointly administered by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). CISA provides expertise and guidance on cybersecurity issues while FEMA manages the grant award and allocation process. Award recipients may use funding for a wide range of cybersecurity improvements and capabilities, including cybersecurity planning and exercising, hiring cyber personnel, and improving the services that citizens rely on daily.

State and local governments have until October 6 to apply for this FY23 grant opportunity.

See Something, Say Something

Certain activities can indicate terrorist planning, especially when these activities occur at or near key critical infrastructure facilities, or other high profile sites or places where large numbers of people gather. Help prevent acts of terrorism by reporting suspicious activity to the Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center.

Message from the President

Dear Members, Sponsors and Colleagues,

Established in 2005, the InfraGard Nevada Members Alliance (INVMA) has grown to over 300 members. We extend a heartfelt welcome to our fellow InfraGard Sierra Nevada members who have joined us and the FBI in a public-private partnership dedicated to the protection of the United States.  As Nevada and the nation face changes around us including social, political, technological, scientific, economic or otherwise, we must maintain vigilance that enables us to navigate through new and increasingly complex threats profoundly impacting our communities and critical infrastructure. It is in this spirit our members are core to the InfraGard mission of information sharing and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.

Starting in 2021 the INVMA Sector Chief program has seen significant growth with seven Sector Chiefs onboarded spanning Energy, Transportation, Defense, Commercial Facilities and Finance industry sectors. Our Sector Chief program is on-going and will continue to expand while offering professional development, education and training geared to strengthen national critical infrastructure and resilience.  In the fall of 2023 we launch the Healthcare Sector focus group.

I’m proud of our Chapter’s successes over the past two years, particularly in providing more opportunities for meaningful engagement of our members and sponsors by introducing innovative programming formats, topics, professional development and outreach opportunities.

In the year ahead, we will continue these initiatives, as well as presenting relevant subject matter content designed to inform and educate our members in collaboration with our FBI partners here in Nevada and our fellow InfraGard members nationwide.

Thank you members for your continued participation and enthusiasm in the InfraGard community. Many thanks to our sponsors for your incredible support and expertise. .Finally, I’d like to give a special shout-out of appreciation to both our Chapter Board of Directors for their tireless work on behalf of the InfraGard Nevada Members Alliance, and to the InfraGard National organization for all the resources, guidance and support they provide each and every day.

Respectfully,
Mark D. West
President and Director, InfraGard Nevada Members Alliance
